ABOUT MITCH

The 25 year old New Zealander Mitch Evans made his ABB FIA Formula E debut with Panasonic Jaguar Racing in 2016 when the British team returned to racing. In his second season with the team, Mitch, widely seen as one of the quickest drivers on the grid, secured a series of firsts for Panasonic Jaguar Racing including super pole, podium finish and pole position. He finished season four in seventh position in the drivers standings out-placing his teammate and Season 1 Champion Nelson Piquet Jr.

Mitch started karting at the age of six and won the NZ Grand Prix at 16, being the youngest driver ever to win the NZ Grand Prix. Managed by former F1 racer Mark Webber, the young driver went on to win the 2012 GP3 title. Moving to GP2 in 2013 and at just 18 years of age, while still a rookie, Mitch became the youngest driver in GP2 history to stand on the podium after finishing his first race third in Sepang Malaysia. More success followed in 2015 when Mitch finished second at the Le Mans 24h. In the same year Evans tested with Porsche LMP1 the World Endurance Championship-winning car.

FIA ABB FORMULA E

Since making its global debut in the grounds of the Olympic Park in Beijing in 2014, Formula E has grown into a global entertainment brand having more than 220 million people following the seven-month long season on TV and over seven billion impressions across Social Media.

Building on five seasons of all-electric city street racing, the  Championship has become a destination for the world's best motorsport teams and talent, consisting of 11 teams and 22 drivers on the grid. Bringing racing rivalries to city streets, set against some of the most iconic skylines in the world – such as New York, Hong Kong, Paris and Rome – Formula E is racing, reinvented.

The Championship serves as a competitive platform for global car manufacturers and mobility providers to test and develop road-relevant technologies. By racing on the streets, the series acts as a catalyst, helping to refine the design of electric vehicles and improve the driving experience for everyday road car users all over the world.

2018/2019 marks a new era of Formula E, seeing the radical Gen2 car making its debut on the city streets for the very first time. With double the energy storage capacity of the Gen1 car, the Gen2 racers can go the whole race distance, making mid-race car swaps a thing of the past but also demonstrating the progress made in all-electric mobility With 250kW of power, the Gen2 will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 2.8-seconds and go on to a top speed of 280km/h.
