Mitch Evans claims first victory for Panasonic Jaguar Racing in Formula E at Rome ePrix.

Mitch Evans made history for Panasonic Jaguar Racing, claiming the team’s first ever ABB FIA Formula E win in Rome. It is Jaguar’s first international motorsport victory in 28 years. During a qualifying session plagued with intermittent rain showers, an impressive performance from Mitch saw the Kiwi driver clinch P2 from Super Pole. An early collision in the race brought out a red flag. The Kiwi drove confidently at the restart and managed to overtake Andre Lotterer with Attack Mode at turn 11 for the lead of the race. Despite Lotterer activating Attack More a lap later, the Evans defended well and held onto his first win in the series.
"Seeing Panasonic Jaguar Racing on the top of the podium is a fantastic moment and I’m so proud of all of the team – many of whom have been here since the beginning of season three when we first entered the championship. For a long time we’ve been saying that we have a good racecar and that we have good pace, it was just about getting all of the pieces together and that was the difference today. It wasn’t easy; Mitch delivered two great qualifying laps and an excellent Super Pole lap to put us on the front row. We’ve shown that if we qualify well, we can deliver great results. Mitch delivered a really mature, world-class performance today. It was a brilliant debut for Alex, he did exactly what we asked him to do. We were unfortunate that we had the infringement on the power limit, which wasn’t a performance related issue, but the rules are the rules. "This feels beautiful. It was a fantastic race. The first few laps were tricky in the wet. After the red flag I just wanted to stay steady. From early on I felt comfortable and my energy management was ahead of target so we decided to use it when it mattered. I wanted to use Attack Mode when Lotterer didn’t have it to gain that power difference. We had great pace from the beginning, so I really felt confident out there today. It’s been years since I had a win, so this really feels amazing. EVANS CONTINUES POINTS SCORING RUN AT SANYA EPRIX

The inaugural Sanya E-Prix saw Panasonic Jaguar Racing driver Mitch Evans climb eleven places to finish ninth and claim two valuable points – one of only two drivers to score in every ABB FIA Formula E race so far this season.
"In qualifying I lost a lot of time compared to practice. The car went off – we didn’t change anything, so it’s a bit of a mystery, I don’t know what happened. It’s frustrating as well. I was quite happy with the car in free practice but it felt like a completely different car in qualifying, which is frustrating. To start right at the back is never what we want. During races you are left with too much work to do. I also had signage caught around my steering rack at one point and I couldn’t see. When you start last all you can hope for is something, and we got points. For our standards it’s not where we should be. Rome is a great track, we were competitive last year. We’ve lost a little bit of ground in the championship but I’ve got full faith in the team and hopefully we can get back at the front." Mitch Evans

EVANS CONTINUES POINTS SCORING RUN IN HONG KONG

Challenging weather conditions dominated the 50th Formula E ePrix in Hong Kong. Putting in a determining performance Evans finished the race in 7th position.
"Given the weather and circumstances of the day, I am happy to come away with points for the team. There were a few incidents on track and everyone was pushing to be at the front of the group, so to come through the race and finish in seventh is positive. When you start at the back of the group, the focus has to be on a top ten finish and we were able to achieve that. There are still plenty of things to learn as we go through the season and today is no exception. This is the first wet race we have had in fifty Formula E races, so we will all take a lot away from the experience." Mitch Evans
EVANS FINISHES 7TH AFTER A THRILLING MEXICO EPRIX

After a tough qualifying starting the race on 17th position, Evans showed fantastic form, climbing an impressive ten places to finish seventh and secure six points for Panasonic Jaguar Racing – his fourth consecutive points-finish this season.
"It was a tough race – the passing wasn’t as straight forward as other tracks. I had a good first few laps – things opened up for me and I took advantage of them. I benefited a few positions from the red flag after Nelson’s accident – I’m glad to see he’s okay. To recover from P18 with some points is nice. We’ve been good with our energy management this season and we’ve made good progress from last year. The past two qualifying sessions haven’t gone well for us, and we need to fix that if we want podiums and wins." Mitch Evans
MITCH EVANS STAYS COOL IN HOT CHILE FINISHING 6TH

Mitch Evans battled extreme temperatures of 37C in Santiago but brought his Jaguar I-TYPE 3s to the finish in the hottest ABB FIA Formula E race in history. The Santiago E-Prix overtook the 35 degrees reached in season two – and was the joint hottest day ever recorded in the Chilean capital.
The changing track conditions prevented Panasonic Jaguar Racing from a top six finish during qualifying and with it, a chance for Super Pole – Mitch qualified in 12th but lined up on the grid in P11 as Audi’s Lucas Di Grassi was demoted from pole position for a technical infringement.
Despite starting outside the top 10, Evans made fantastic progress up the grid. The Kiwi driver gained five places and finished in P6 earning eight valuable points for Panasonic Jaguar Racing. Jaguar Racing
“Overall it was a bit disappointing today. We had high hopes, but we seemed to struggle from FP1 – the pace wasn’t really there. To qualify 12th was the best I could do with changing track conditions. I raced well from there. Overall, I think it was a good recovery but I’m nowhere near satisfied with the result. I want to be on the podium. But I’m looking forward to Mexico, I like the track there.” Mitch Evans
EVANS EARNS VALUABLE POINTS AT MARRAKESH EPRIX

The second race of the 2018/19 ABB FIA Formula E season showed pace, performance but only delivered a couple of points for Panasonic Jaguar Racing in Marrakesh.
Mitch Evans started the day well with a fantastic drive in FP2, to set the fastest time. The Kiwi driver qualified into Super Pole with a P6 time and started the race in P5 due to a penalty for Antonio Felix Da Costa.
Starting on the right side of the grid Evans was forced off the circuit to avoid a first corner incident and while he survived to remain in the race he lost ten places avoiding the melee. Mitch also incurred mechanical damage to his rear diffuser when the Mahindra of Pascal Wehrlein made contact with the back of his Jaguar I-TYPE3.
The New Zealander showed great pace and competitive energy management to climb back up the order, despite a damaged car, to secure ninth place and two valuable points. Nelson also gained five places and eventually finished in 14th. Jaguar Racing
“We’ve been quick all day which is promising. The FP2 fastest time was a positive this morning. We didn’t quite optimise qualifying as we had hoped – I made a mistake during my Super Pole lap, but that’s just the way it rolls sometimes. You go all in with the Super Pole lap, sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn’t. Today was one of those days – the incident on the first corner forced me to go wide and I lost ten positions. It’s something out of our control and very frustrating. The luck isn’t rolling with us at the moment. The Jaguar I-TYPE 3 is quick, so that’s really important for the duration of the championship.” Mitch Evans
EVANS FINISHES 4TH AT THE FIRST AD DIRIYAH EPRIX

The fifth season of ABB FIA Formula E got off to an electric start in Saudi Arabia and saw the debut of the new Generation 2 Jaguar I-TYPE 3 a faster all-electric race car with greater efficiency and range.
Kiwi Mitch Evans battled inclement weather, a challenging track and bad luck in qualifying to finish fourth, narrowly missing out on a podium position. His Brazilian team mate Nelson Piqet Jr. fought for a valuable point to finish tenth.
The new Ad Diriyah track provided a tricky challenge for all 22 Formula E drivers. An unseasonal rain shower disrupted the free practice sessions which placed further importance on qualifying. Evans was adversely penalised by Felix Rosenqvist’s crash and was unable to complete a flat out 250kW qualifying lap. Despite this Mitch Evans, with the aid of the new Attack Mode power boost, was able to make up four places from eigth place on the grid. Jaguar Racing
“A busy race after limited time on track but it was good fun. It is a shame not to give the team the podium they deserved but we were hampered by some bad luck in qualifying, which is so key in Formula E. I enjoyed using the Attack Mode and it brings a unique element to the race. I’ll now work with the team in the simulator ahead of Marrakesh to build on this result. It is cool to see my brother Simon win the first Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY race. Hopefully he can continue like that for the rest of the championship.” Mitch Evans
